1962 was a milestone year for Corvette in many ways. Finally turning a profit in 1958, a new sales record of 14,531 was established in 1962. The base price tag went over $4000 for the first time. Although the exterior had few changes except the elimination of the 2-color option, under the hood a 15% bigger engine now provided 250 horsepower. Over 75% of the buyers, however, opted for a more powerful engine. Having established itself as reliable and now with a winning racing pedigree, the Corvette was now firmly entrenched as America's sports car...
